Think of torque as the twisting force that gets the wheels turning. It's the muscle behind the motion. Imagine trying to loosen a really tight bolt with a wrench. The force you're applying to the wrench handle — that's analogous to torque. The longer the wrench (think of it as leverage), the easier it is to turn the bolt, right? In a car engine, torque is generated when the engine's pistons move up and down, causing the crankshaft to rotate.
